Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Han Jing Attends the Seminar on China-Zambia Artificial Intelligence Cooperation

On 6 August 2026, Ambassador Han Jing attended and addressed the Seminar on China-Zambia Artificial Intelligence Cooperation. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Technology and Science Eng. Dr. Brilliant Habeenzu, National Coordinator of SMART Zambia Institute Percy Chinyama, together with over 20 representatives from the governments, universities and businesses of China and Zambia, were present.

Ambassador Han noted that China has taken the initiative to establish the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO), providing an important platform for the Global South to deepen AI cooperation and improve global AI governance. President Xi Jinping elaborated on China’s propositions on building a fairer and more reasonable global AI governance system and the measures it will take to support global AI development and capacity building at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference. China stands ready to work with Zambia to strengthen cooperation in digital infrastructure, industrial applications, talent development and global AI governance, to empower Zambia’s digital transformation through AI and achieve mutually beneficial cooperation and common development.

Dr. Habeenzu and Mr. Chinyama commended the Chinese government for its commitment to inclusiveness, openness and win-win cooperation in promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations through AI application, and expressed the readiness to use well the opportunities presented by Zambia’s accession into WAICO as a founding member and deepen AI cooperation with China to drive innovation-led development.
